2020.07.21 08:27 Ponifex Quick question about Trust availability
Turns out SE doesn't abide by the "miss it and it's gone forever" philosophy of MMO design, as you 'lot have informed me! At least when it comes to event-granted Trusts, anyway.
Appreciate the insight once again - I'll be on the lookout for them in future events!
=== Original message below ===
Recently came back after a 10-year break (thanks to this very subreddit in fact) and have been having a total blast re-learning my way around the world. Especially with the Trust system in tow, it's super quick to start grinding at a moment's notice!
However, in doing some research, I've found that the most-recommended Trusts all seem to stem from strictly time-limited events which have long-since come and gone. Specifically choices such as Shantoto II
, King of Hearts
, et cetera.
Are these highly-desired Trusts (and others like them) permanently locked away, or do they have a chance of returning at a later date?
The previous MMO I poured time (and money...) into contained loads of frustrating "had to be there" power-spike items, which ultimately lead to a gigantic, unbridgeable stat gap between veterans and new arrivals. Obviously Trusts aren't anywhere near as directly impacting on your own character's output, but you can see where my concern stems from. =P
Thanks again for your time!

2020.03.18 23:47 admissionsmom Wash your Hands & Keep your Distance, but Stay Connected: Covid 19 & College Admissions: Take Care ACT SAT IB AP & More Extending Deposit Deadlines NACAC Status Updates: CoronaVirus Learning More about Colleges Virtual Visits Tired of Being a Couch Potato Yet? Look for the Helpers
You’ve been thrust into Social Distancing, and I see all these tweets and posts and articles about the Viral Anxiety and Viral Stress that’s accompanying the CoronaVirus, and my first thought is: what’s new about Viral Stress and Anxiety
? We live it everyday in the college admissions world. And that thought leads me to realize that your generation, you -- the amazing Gen Z, are absolutely equipped for this ordeal. You are resilient. You are experienced with handling your stress and many of you have been proactive in learning the mechanisms for dealing with stress and anxiety on a regular level. Nevertheless, this stress is -- no doubt -- leveling up. You
know that life can feel like it’s falling apart and that you will survive it. You know that we need a little wind in our lives to make us stronger. You know, that just like those baby trees in the biosphere that fell down when they didn’t have anything pushing on them -- we need
some stress in our lives. If you aren’t familiar with my take on the trees in the biosphere, you can read my medium story about it here.
But let’s be real -- there’s stress and then there’s stress.
So, I want you to be especially careful with yourselves now. It’s one thing to go through the college admissions decisions drama while in school surrounded by classmates, teachers, and friends, and a whole 'nother thing to go through it alone. But, as Brene Brown, one of my personal heroes said last week (look her up if you aren’t familiar with her), “Social distancing doesn’t have to mean social disconnection.” We can be alone in all this together. We know how to do exactly that here on A2C, and we’ve been doing it for years.
When you start to feel overwhelmed, take a minute and find stillness and just allow yourself to breathe. Ground yourself in the present moment by listing 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can feel, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste.
I always recommend yoga and mindfulness and meditation because they helped me during the most stressful times of my life, so I definitely recommend you look into some online yoga classes as a way to grow comfortable with connecting your body and brain while you have some extra time on your hands in the next few weeks.
I also recommend two apps for you to help with mindfulness and meditation.
- Breathe by Dr. Jud: it’s available on google play and the app store. FREE. This is a great app that can help you with meditation and mindfulness and in general, just being still.
- Koru Free Un-Class and App ($3.99 charge for app): That link has links to the app and class.
And lastly, before I move on to logistics and news and updates, I want to share this letter
with you from a high school teacher in Louisiana, whose words moved me. He experienced Hurricane Katrina as a high school student and has some wise words to share with you.
- SAT, ACT, IB, AP, TRANSCRIPTS, AND INTERNET
So far, SAT and ACT have both pushed back their April and May dates. College Board notification is here
. ACT is here
. Here is the IB notification
I honestly have no idea what is going to happen with testing for you juniors and seniors who need IB scores and A levels, or what’s going to happen with your transcripts if your teachers and counselors can’t easily access them. I’m hopeful that all this will be resolved before there’s a need to cause problems, but we really have no idea what’s going to happen. I do know that I follow over 500 colleges on social media and I’m seeing many of them make posts and tweets about how they will be trying to work with students however they can.
If you don’t have the Internet in your home, it can be really hard to get your school work done, not to mention your college applications. I’ve seen a few companies that are offering free intro services for students: Altice USA Charter and Spectrum
: 1-844-488-8395 Comcast Covid Response
: 855-846-8376 (English) or 855-765-6995 (Spanish). I’ve also seen that AT&T, Verizon, and T Mobile have Covid responses. You can google and see what they are offering.

- NACAC COLLEGE ADMISSIONS STATUS: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT
“As a service to students and families, NACAC is providing this online tool as a central resource for information about changes in college admission events, deposit dates, and more as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.” NACAC is the National Association of College Admissions Counselors. https://www.nacacnet.org/news--publications/newsroom/college-admission-status-coronavirus/?fbclid=IwAR34gw3CrfhUHVtzwdR1-TZf6BlYJJuT4jinCQNugr8BcQepv93KOsnM2Io
- LEARNING MORE ABOUT COLLEGES
Pay attention to how colleges react to the virus. Are they helping their students with housing, airfare, and lost wages? Or are they leaving them high and dry? These are great questions and ones that I think y’all should be considering as you make your final decisions as seniors or your college lists as juniors.
This NPR article, Amid Coronavirus, Some College Students Have Nowhere To Go
, might be interesting to you.
- VIRTUAL TOURS (AND OTHER WAYS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT A CAMPUS)
Seniors, as you begin to finalize your choices, I know you will have some tough decisions to make, and for many of you a college visit would have helped you with that decision. Juniors, as you begin to create your lists, it’s going to be tough this year with college visits and tours off the agenda more than likely at least through the spring, if not the summer.
The first place to start is the college’s own website. Many of them are working overtime to get virtual tours up for you. You can also see what kind of online programming the admissions offices are doing for you, like video chats and other online campus days. Make sure you follow their social media, especially Instagram and Twitter. I’m seeing lots of important info from many colleges everyday all day long. Many of them also have YouTube channels you can check out.
Here’s a list of some virtual tour websites. https://www.youvisit.com/ https://www.campusreel.org/ https://www.youniversitytv.com/
These websites don’t have virtual tours necessarily, but they have lots of good info that you might find helpful. www.niche.com www.collegescoops.com https://www.scoir.com/blog/youvisit-partnership Cialfo College Fairs https://www.zeemee.com/
Pinterest -- look for pics of colleges and see what others are saying
Reddit -- go to the individual college subreddits and ask questions of the students. There are no right or wrong answers to your questions because it’s all about what you’re interested in and what works best for you. Sample Questions: What do you like most? What do you like least? What do you do on a Saturday afternoon? What are your friends doing? What do you do on a Wednesday night? What might your friends be doing? What would you change?
- TIRED OF BEING A COUCH POTATO YET?
Sure, you can play video games, catch up on movies, while away the hours on Twitch, or watch YouTube and TikTok for hours on end, but eventually you might find yourself getting a little bored. And juniors, this is primetime for you to take advantage of working on a personal project. I always suggest to my juniors that they use the summer before senior year to get a job and work on a personal project so this is a perfect opportunity for you to take the time to learn about and do some of the things that you just don’t have time to do during your busy year.
What to do now that we’re enmeshed in social distancing and we are working and schooling from home: Read, Read, Read
Reread your favorite books (Harry Potter calling your name?)
Read books you haven’t had a chance to read before (Tess of the D'urbervilles, Rebecca, Fahrenheit 451, Anything by William Faulkner, Toni Morrison, John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut, Ralph Ellison, or Jane Eyre or so many other amazing writers out here. I know my kids loved Robert Jordan when they were your age.
By the way, the best way to become a strong writer is to read -- a lot. Reading will improve your standardized test scores and help you in every class -- believe it or not. Family Time
Family History Project -- Collect family stories, photos, and documents to create a scrapbook for your family to keep
Become a Chef -- Learn to follow recipes and create homemade meals
Chilling with Chores -- Do dishes and laundry without
your parents asking you. These are the kind of tasks you can do with mindfulness by focusing on the task, or you can stick on some headphones or turn up the speakers and have a big ole Chore Dance Party.
Connecting with The Elderly -- Call and facetime with grandparents and the elderly in your life. They will be lonely and disconnected right now and will need you more than ever.
Family Game Night -- Bond your family and learn new games or bring out the old favorites New Hobbies and Projects
Pursue a hobby you haven’t had time to explore before: Teach yourself Italian or another language that piques your interest, Learn an instrument like guitar and ukulele, Learn about Astronomy, Martial Arts, Gardening, or Chess. This is your chance to explore areas you haven’t given yourself time to explore or you can fine tune some skills you’ve been working on all along.
Take an Online Class: Ed X
, YouTube tutorials, MOOCS, Coursera
Learn Marketable skills: Learn to code through Udacity
, Learn Excel -- if you can help someone with an Excel Spreadsheet, you will forever be on their good side. Get Creative
Find your artistic side: Draw, Sing, Cartoon, Dance, Paint, Collage, Write plays, Play and Write Music, Stories, or Operas Be Outside (Sunshine and Green Bathing are both great ways to stay healthy!)
sit in the sun, take walks, bike rides, jogs (keep 6 feet spacing between you and others for social distancing) Community Service and Volunteer
Childcare for people who must work
Errands for the Elderly -- make grocery store and pharmacy runs for those who shouldn’t be out and about
Help out at food banks for those who are newly unemployed and need back up food Get a Job
Amazon and Grocery Stores are both hiring if your parents and you are comfortable with your being in that setting. Journal/Diary
Write. Write. Write. And write some more. I encourage you to find your voice and practice with it while keeping a record of what’s happening in our world right now. These are truly historic times and your children and grandchildren will treasure your thoughts and reflections about what it was like to experience this event as a teen. Also, bonus for juniors -- these diaries and journals will help you find your voice and give you reflections and thoughts to turn to when you begin to write those essays. LOOK FOR THE HELPERS And of course, hang out here on A2C with us!
Share your thoughts, concerns, excitement, questions, and advice. We are a community of people who are helpers. These are stressful times, and we are all worried about our futures, and we really have no idea what that will look like, but that’s really no more true today than it was last fall if you think about it. What I do know is this: We are going to be ok. You are going to be ok. And the reason I know that is because of this community of 170,000 badasses who are warriors in life. You give me hope because everyday, I see you all jumping in to help each other and it always makes me think of these wise words from Mr. Rogers: “Look for the helpers.”
You are not alone.

2019.11.10 22:02 lolpolice88 Racist, Anti-Maori, Anti-Woman, Evangelical bigot, Christopher Luxon groomed to replace pretend Maori cannon fodder in the colonial National Party.
One day Maari Simon Bridges used as an incompetent pawn so the colonial National Party can tactically have an excuse to get back to it's core gumbooted, landthieving colonial roots with the racist Christian Evangelical Christopher Luxon. Luxon has a history of rebooting an exploitative, anti-maori culture at Air New Zealand (banning Moko, trying to trademark 'Kia Ora') and has already begun declaring political racist attacks singling out Maori. National Party strategy is always to ghettoize Maori then exploit for their supporters gains. https://www.maorieverywhere.com/single-post/2019/09/11/Maori-Council-threatens-AIR-NZ-with-the-courts-for-the-use-of-the-word-%E2%80%9CKia-Ora%E2%80%9D
" Maori Council threatens AIR NZ with the courts for the use of the word “Kia Ora”
The New Zealand Maori Council has told the CEO of Air New Zealand to pull his head in and warned that it will not put up with the nonsense of the company trying to trade-mark “Kia Ora”. Council Executive Director Matthew Tukaki as also indicated that he is more than willing to throw the airline into the courts and said the hair brained scheme is an insult to all Maori and all New Zealanders during Maori language week:
“Lets be really clear here this is an insult pure and simple. Luxton and his massive fleet of PR and marketing cronies have come up with another hairbrained scheme from the never never similar to some of their safety videos – my suggestion is stick to your core business because you sure as hell don’t get to trademark Maori words. If Luxton wants to continue this hoha then prepare for the day when we simply turn around and say – Maori, Maori organsations and iwi – boycott. Not one more Air NZ ticket. And on that point I suggest the largest shareholder go and give this recalcitrant company a good telling off” Tukaki said
“Look here is the thing – I am sick and tired of cultural appropriation and in fact all Maori are – our language is a national treasure for all of us and we need to respect it. Its not here for business to use it and profit from it as they see fit. So lets all get sensible about this and Air NZ – cut it out.” Tukaki said
“Christopher Luxon – I’m no pussycate nor will I put up with this hoha / nonsense so if we want to test the resolve or Maori lets dance.” Tukaki said" https://www.waateanews.com/waateanews/x_story_id/MjE5MDE=/Breakfast%20with%20Dale/Koru%20unfurls:%20Air%20NZ%20lifts%20t%c4%81%20moko%20ban
" Air New Zealand has dropped its ban on hiring people with tā moko or tattoos.
From September 1 all new and existing Air New Zealand employees will be able to have tā moko and non-offensive tattoos visible when wearing their uniform or normal business attire.
The airline came under fire for refusing to hire people with tā moko, despite using a koru in its branding.
Chief Executive Chris Luxon says the airline is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that truly reflects the makeup of Aotearoa.
He says in conversations with customers and staff here and overseas in the past five months, it’s clear that there is growing acceptance of tattoos in New Zealand, particularly as a means of cultural and individual expression.
One in five adult New Zealanders has at least one tattoo, with more than 35 percent of under 30s tattooed." https://www.reuters.com/article/us-airnewzealand-tattoo/air-new-zealand-drops-ban-on-staff-tattoos-amid-discrimination-concerns-idUSKCN1TB09D https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/top/402829/national-mp-says-benefit-cuts-could-be-good-for-maori-strengthen-whanau
" National MP Joanne Hayes says some Maori could end up better off if their welfare payments were reduced - claims condemned by the Māori Council .
Ms Hayes, National's Māori Development spokesperson, has said people had been telling her a National discussion document that talked about getting tough on beneficiaries was racist.
The MP said social welfare had however not necessarily proved a good thing for Māori.
"We have become so dependent on benefits that we have, as a nation, actually lost the ability to be entrepreneurial and the ability to make our own way in life."
Mrs Hayes has been a solo mother. She said she always made sure her son was up to date with his immunisations.
She said her whānau grew up "running off the smell of an oily rag" but they made things work, and whānau need to be more resourceful with what they have and learn to grow vegetables.
Reducing income in a household [through benefit cuts] could strengthen whānau, she said.
"It could do, it depends on how resourceful the whānau are at being able to do the things for their whānau within the amount of money that they have.
"Sometimes you don't have to be overly rich to actually live a good life - that's where we fall down a bit - because we are not resourceful as a whānau."
National published its social policy discussion document last week.
It is seeking feedback on proposals including blocking gang members and their associates from the dole if they cannot prove legal income or assets.
The party also floated the idea of cutting benefits for sole parents who do not vaccinate their children.
Mrs Hayes said she did not know if she supported the sanctions yet, or whether docking sole parents would increase immunisation rates, but she was keen for feedback on the document.
Māori Council director Matthew Tukaki said cutting the income of vulnerable whānau would leave their children hungry, and Mrs Hayes' comments were off the mark.
"Jo is living in a fantasy world way back from whenever when things must have been easier for Jo," he said.
"Things have not always been easier for every Māori family across the country - some of our people genuinely struggle day to day.
"It is irresponsible from a Māori member of Parliament who has been there for a while now who should know better."
Ideas labelled as Māori-bashing
National's newly-selected Botany candidate Christopher Luxon said the "no jab, no pay" policy should be extended beyond sole parents, to people who receive Working for Families grants.
The party's leader Simon Bridges said he was open to the idea, but Mr Tukaki said it was dog-whistle politics and Māori-bashing.
"Seriously, is that how you want to come into politics, just by bashing and bashing the same old people that get hurt from this sort of negativity all the time."
Māori Party Che Wilson agreed, and said it was common for politicians to tout policies targeting Māori and the poor in the build-up to an election, in a bid to win votes from the right.
Mr Wilson said Māori and Pacific Island people were over-represented in gangs and sole-parent beneficiaries, and what National was talking about was racist.
"This is a deliberate target at trying to beat-up on people who are struggling already, who actually need help, not abuse," he said.
"The fact that National is trying to come up with ridiculous ideas like this is missing the point, because you have to help intervene with people to help give them a chance, rather than give them punishment."
Auckland Action Against Poverty co-ordinator Ricardo Menendez March said the sanctions would have a big impact on whānau Māori, who are concerned about what is being suggested.
He is concerned that if it went through, Work and Income staff would be left to decide who is a gang member or affiliate, enabling them to act upon their own biases.
"This policy, what it would do, it would end up targeting Māori whānau leaving them without food on the table," he said.
"It would actually push them into criminal activity because they would have no means of accessing income legally as a result of the sanction."
Mr Menendez March said public health evidence showed most poor people who did not vaccinate their kids were dealing with logistical barriers, such as working two jobs and not finding time, or not having the means to travel to their local pharmacy or clinic.
"Most of the government's reports show that sanctions do not work, and this is just about rhetoric and dog-whistle politics as opposed to evidence-based politics."'
Examples of Christopher Luxon's racist, sexist, bigoted Evangelical Christianity https://thestandard.org.nz/nationals-fundamentals/
" I’m trying to avoid thinking about National as much as possible at the moment, but this grabbed my attention on twitter last night from the discussion about
National parachuting in their FJK replacement
Christopher Luxon joining the National Party and becoming the candidate for Botany.
Luxon is the former CEO of Air New Zealand, and he’s also an evangelical Christian. Background in Micky’s posts here
(June) and here
Russell Brown’s twitter thread
I had a look at The Upper Room, the Newmarket evangelical church that Christopher Luxon attends. I like the church’s focus on community and much of its mission work is creditable. But this recent sermon by founder Craig Heilman is … a bit weird. The Upper Room https://upperroom.org.nz/sermons/from-darkness-to-light/ It tries (I think) to make a case that it is our experience of “the darkness” that ultimately brings us close to God, referencing Psalm 88 and Greta Thunberg. But it’s studded with tropes from far-right conspiracies: Soros, Saul Alinsky, et al. Heilmann tells his congregation that Thunberg has an “eco-coach” funded by Soros. This is a straight-up conspiracy theory originally aired on the website Europe Reloaded, which rails against “globalists” and the climate change “hoax”. Fact-checkers have found this theory wanting. Heilmann tries to be even-handed (there’s nothing wrong with protest, etc), but the fact he’s quoting this kind of thing seems notable. It’s an interesting environment for a prospective Prime Minister to emerge from. Update: just browsed Heilmann’s twitter. He thinks Brexit and MAGA are “really good”, that Trump is the victim of a conspiracy by “the administrative state” and climate change isn’t real. Frets about “globalist” Clinton-Soros plans for a “one world order”. Etc, etc. Crikey. He also retweets some pretty scary accounts, including True Pundit, source of some really ghastly fabricated news stories, including the claim that NYPD seized Hilary’s emails as part of child sex trafficking investigation. Loves Tulsi Gabbard.
Various people were also commenting on the removal of Heilmann’s twitter account, and pages from his church’s website, including the one Brown linked to.

There’s an issue here about whether a politician (or political party leader) can be closely tied to the beliefs of the pastor of the church they attend. Which is fair enough in a reasonable world and New Zealand is fortunate in being largely immune to the influence of churches in politics. We also tend to be live and let live when it comes to people’s religion. My problem here is twofold.
One is that if there are no direct political connections between Luxon and his church or pastor, what do we make of the removal of Pastor Heilmann’s twitter account and the Upper Room website content on the same day that Luxon’s candidacy for Botany is announced? We could get really speculative and wonder how close the timing of the removal was to say Brown’s tweets, or why the National Party’s office was so slack that they didn’t think to organise this months ago
The other problem is that who the fuck trusts National to have any ethics here? It’s not like the party is full of fundamentalist Christians, but I have zero doubts that the power-holders in National will make use of Luxon as they need to. Whether this is just another smart parachuting move that includes enough vote catching nods to the religious conservatives, or whether National already intend to go the whole Trumpian, climate-denying, trash-the-country-for-power path, who knows. Given the last decade, the latter seems just as likely as the former, so best we are prepared.
Maybe Brown highlighting the community and ministry aspects of Luxon’s church and congregation is right, and the points about not holding this against him remain true. Or maybe this is how it happens in New Zealand, the tainting of NZ politics with fundamentalist religion for political gain is manufactured with a smile and a wave.
All of which is to say that I know bugger all about Luxon, and in a vacuum I won’t be the only one tempted to judge him by the company he keeps (maybe the Pastor, but definitely National). In which case,
📷Lew@LewSOS · Nov 5, 2019Replying to @LewSOSI think it is great that people of strong faith run for office. I don't have much myself, but faith can provide moral foundations and a self-assurance that are valuable when populist imperatives presses in from all sides. But I want them to be honest about what they believe. See Lew's other Tweets
📷Lew@LewSOSThis is why I like the honesty of Israel Folau (even as I disagree strongly with it): at least you know what you're getting. Maybe that will be true of Luxon; after all, his preacher isn't standing for office, But it ain't yet, and we deserve to know what he believes in. 25:46 PM - Nov 5, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy

2018.09.16 18:31 gneissdinosaur Ways to build up 119 gearsets (returning)
Greetings all, Lakshmi resident hereso I came back not long ago and I've been doing whatever I can to catch up. I got, for my BST, a very "meh" ilvl 119 axe (the one with charm + on it from the weapon NM in Qufim) - but it is, after all, still a 119 weapon, so there's that. Have a -4% dmg taken belt, a -5% dmg taken torque, shepherd's chain (-2% pet dmg taken), ferine necklace (pet double attack), reward axe and pallas' shield (I went /whm)
My gear is pretty pitiful in that so far I only have the sparks gear (ilvl 117).I'm also working on trying to build some CP. My merits on BST from 5 years ago, because this may come up, were:
group 1: reward recast 5/5, sic recast 5/5
group 2: beast affinity 5/5, beast healer 5/5
So, I was looking at some armor sets and, because I'm tired of looking at this hideous Outrider set and really need to get some good accuracy and pet stats on there, I set my heart on the Despair set from the T1 nm's in Escha-Zitah.I have, for the record, 5 trusts and have completed RoE up through the Wildkeeper Reive, which I am stuck on since there doesn't appear to be anyone doing any of these anymore on my server.I have also completed RoV up through the Cait Sith mission, which I'm paused on until I beat the rest of my Wings of the Goddess missions - fairly sure i can solo most of those. So, I don't have access to some of the boosts and better trusts just yet. For my main tanks I have either trion or Gessho.
OK, so, that all said, I wanted to at least TRY for the T1 NM's and initially tried with the 117 sparks axe, and started with Gestalt. I used Randy as my pet, and his damage was pretty good. I used Trion initially to tank, threw in Zeid II, Yoran-Oran, Koru-Moru, Lion II (for TH - this was a mistake).
So, Gestalt round one actually went pretty well up until about 20% HP or so. Even with the refresh from the rdm trust, MP ran out on the mages, Trion went down, and the thing started spamming firaga spells. Bit it, re-raised, and attacked again - but it knocked us down again, again once we got it to pretty low HP. Fail 1.
Then I went and farmed up that 119 axe, hoping it'd make a difference. Went back, used Gessho this time, Randy again, and pretty much the same results. I was spamming Randy's ready moves whenever they were up, of course, skillchaining when I could to help it along. SOB got tough again at low HP and same result.
So, I thought, maybe I'm not ready for that one yet - somehow at about 20% HP this thing just becomes a bitch. I used barfira, as well. No dice. Tried staying out of range of the firaga the second time. Nope. I felt like it was really close but I just couldn't get it the final 20 or 30% each time. I died once, re-raised, and went at it again and THOUGHT I was going to get it but I ran out of time and it vanished.
NEXT, I decided to try Angrboda - just to see if I could get that one and maybe get a shot at the body piece. Nope. Same setup as before, only this time I lost the Thf and tried Tenzen. Again, as with Gestalt, got it to 30% or so pretty easily and then it becomes progressively harder to hurt. Starts spamming hurty moves. First round, I tried as bst. Tiger again. Lost.
Then I thought why not try it on DNC. So, I went and got the sparks gear for my 99 Dnc, went /NIN sub, put all my macros in, got the 117 daggers, and tried Angrboda again. For the first half, again, it was smooth sailing. A little slow, but smooth. I was skillchaining here and there. Then under the halfway mark it got tough again, and I had to start focusing my TP on curing my trusts. Same setup as before with the trusts. Tenzen and Zeid II as DD. I do not have shantotto II, only the first one, and I was certain she'd run out of mp long before the fight was over and be useless.Ended up wiping again, again, when we had it at about 30% health left. My dagger hits were initially doing maybe 150 dmg each - and by the time it was at 30% the damage had fallen to maybe 30 dmg a strike. Tenzen's ws was only doing 500ish by that point. Not good.
OK. So, I've gone over my strategies used and the results.Obviously, I'm not good enough yet to take these bastards out. Which is depressing because I really wanted to get out of this sparks gear.
So, my question to you fine people out there who have been playing all these last 5 years, is, simply....what can I do to be able to solo these things that last 20 or 30%? Is there a better trust setup I should be using? Even a 119 weapon didn't seem to help a whole lot. It's not like I was missing a lot or anything (I Have full axe merits on bst as well and used ACC food for pet). The mages simply have to spam too much MP to keep the tank alive once these things get to low HP, and progress slows so much that it's hard to get it killed in time.
One obvious answer is to get my job points merited - working on it - and merit the ready moves for higher dmg. Not sure if that'll make a ton of difference given the dmg mitigation these things start showing at low HP %'s, but that's one step.
Are there alternatives to the despair set that I CAN get without too much BS right now?I'm also hoping for recommendations on accessories. I still have a raja's ring and twilight belt...should I get the +7acc sparks ring for now?
Thanks very much! I'm still hoping someone will shout for that blasted wildkeeper reive so I can move forward with RoE.
If it helps, some of my other jobs that were already at 99 (no job points yet but merited from before) are: BLM, WHM, RDM, PLD, WAR, COR, DNC. None of them have up-to-date gear. Pld/Rdm have genbu's shield and some +2 af and relic pieces, some abyssea pieces as well. No aegis or anything. Novio and hecate earring for MAB on mage jobs, obis, etc. Pretty old school stuff, because most of them I got to 99 fast as soon as the lvl cap changed, and then ended up stopping FFXI for 5 years after that.
